Ian was born and brought up in the Central belt of Scotland, graduating LL.B. from Glasgow University in 1971. He has gained experience in a broad range of general legal business and joined Munro and Noble from a firm of Glasgow solicitors in 1973, becoming a partner in 1976.
The last 20 years have seen Ian concentrate almost exclusively on conveyancing (a subject in which he graduated with distinction at University), specialising in house purchase and sales as well as plot acquisition and development for both private and corporate clients, as a result of which he has built up an extensive base of clients. Almost all of Ian's work derives from client repeat business or through repeat business - a common feature in the firm's work profile.
Ian has been married for over 25 years and has one son, also married. He is a committed evangelical Christian and has links with various local Christian Fellowships. In the past Ian has been a keen athlete and sportsman, playing rugby for Glasgow University and Hutchesons RFP Club and also handball for Scotland. He now restricts his sporting activities to golf and trying to keep fit in the gym.
As a former Senior Partner with the firm, he regards integrity, confidentiality and trustworthiness in dealing with client's affairs, together with the high quality of the firms legal services, of paramount importance.
